  • On November 8, 2012, the Ari Roland Jazz Quartet performed for a full house at the Shalkyma Concert Hall in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. The program, sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Astana, combined classic American jazz compositions with traditional Kazakh music showing that music is a common language spoken across ages and across cultures.   • On October 25 AC Karaganda had a Club, devoted to the memory of Daniel Pearl(1963-2002). Daniel Pearl, the Wall Street Journal reporter, was kidnapped and murdered in 2002. Daniel was a gifted musician who always traveled with his violin or mandolin to connect people through words and music.

  • On October 22, AC Karaganda had a guest from American Councils - Saule Kussayeva. Being a Program Coordinator, Saule made a nice presentation on American University in Bulgaria. As a liberal arts institution, AUBG offers courses in a wide range o disciplines that challenge students to think critically, raise questions, consider different perspectives, and apply theory to practice.
