Karaganda RURL

The Spelling Bee is a competition in which participants spell English words. You have a chance to win the title of Best English Speller in Kazakhstan, along with other prizes!

The Kazakhstan Spelling Bee is conducted in two rounds.

First Local Beetook place in November 25, 2018 at American Corner Karaganda. It was a fierce competition among the participants from all the universities and colleges of our city.

Spelling Bee Karaganda was conducted with the help of the judges, pronouncer, timer and master of ceremony. The pronouncer Madina Wahab English Language Fellow clearly anddistinctly pronounced the word two times.

Three judges: Terri John (Office-management specialist in US Embassy), Assima Omarova (English language teacher at KSU) and Taimaz Kozhmukanov (English language teacher at SBTC) determined whether the participant spelled the word correctly.

Our MC – Shugyla Sagynbekova made the Spelling Bee fun and interesting for all the spellers and guests.

After long and hard competition, we got our three winners:

• 1^st place: Gizat Aibassov – Karaganda State University, sophomore.
• 1^st runner-up: Assem Mustafina – Karaganda State Medical university, junior.
• 2^nd runner-up: Malika Ryspekova – Karaganda State Medical university, freshmen.

The top three winners of our Local Bee will participate in the Kazakhstan National Spelling Bee in Astana on March 2, 2019.

The top four winners of the Kazakhstan National Spelling Bee will participate in the Central Asian Regional Spelling Bee to compete against winners from Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan. The Central Asian Spelling Bee will take place on April, 2019 in Bishkek.
