On Sunday Speaking club AC users discussed the topic “Metallurgist Day in Kazakhstan”. Day of Metallurgist is a professional holiday celebrated in some former Soviet republics, namely Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Armenia and Kazakhstan, on the third Sunday in July. It originated in the Soviet Union in 1957.

Heavy industry in general and metallurgy in particular played a significant role in the economy of the Soviet Union, being its main focus. So it is not surprising that the presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dedicated a separate holiday to all people involved in metallurgy.

One of the major metallurgical enterprises of our country is located in the city of Temirtau of our Karaganda Region. The combine was formed in 1970 on the basis of the Karaganda Metallurgical Plant. The combine produces cast iron, steel, sheet and sectional rolled products, coke, and coke byproducts.

It’s pleasant to say that the career of our President started in Temirtau.

From 1960 to 1969 N. Nazarbayev worked at Karaganda metallurgical plant. Our AC users got information about this holiday, its history and part of Nazarbayev’s biography by jigsaw reading. The discussion was interesting and involving. Hereupon they talked about their dream and dream work. Friendly atmosphere, good mood and interesting discussion are always at our Speaking club. Thanks to our active participants.
