The United Nations’ (UN) International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking falls on June 26 each year to raise awareness of the major problem that illicit drugs represent to society. This day is supported by individuals, communities and various organizations all over the world. The day is a United Nations International Day against drug abuse and the illegal drug trade.
On 26th June Moderator of Speaking club Olga Volkova and AC users have discussed this topic. What do they know about this day and how to prevent drug abuse? Firstly they shared with their information and give point of view according to resolution of problem. Not everybody knew about international day. Elder generation recommended to show videos about people who were addicted,suffered and its awful consequences to pupils, students. Most participants advised to go in for sport. Because Sport plays a big role in our life. It helps us to stay healthy.
Hereupon they got detailed information about this day, its background. There was a semantic book exibition full of books, pamphlets and etc.
The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is a global observance and not a public holiday. The UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has, over the years, been actively involved in launching campaigns to mobilize support for drug control. The UNODC often teams up with other organizations and encourages people in society to actively take part in these campaigns.
