Since December 1, 2012 our country has celebrated the Day of the First President. This holiday is a tribute to achievements of the first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan A. Nazarbayev. The word "president" is translated from Latin as "a person sitting in front".

The first president of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev is the founder of a new independent state, who provided the unity of Kazakhstan, protection of the Constitution, rights and freedoms of the person and citizen. According to the Constitution the President of the Republic is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the country.

Nursultan Nazarbayev was born on July 6, 1940 in the Shamalgan village near Almaty. In 1960 he graduated from Dneprodzerzhinsk technical school in the Ukraine, and in 1967 he finished the higher technical education institution at the Karagandy Polytechncal Institute. He qualified as a metallurgical engineer.

Due to his organizational skills and tenacity, Nursultan Nazarbayev was successfully engaged in the komsomol and  soviet party work. In April 1990 he became the President of the Kazakh SSR.

On December 1, 1991 Nursultan Nazarbayev became the first President of independent Kazakhstan. He introduced the world our young independent state. In subsequent years, as a result of national elections, Nursultan Nazarbayev was re-elected as a Head of State.

The achievements of the country within 25 years of sovereignty demonstrate convincingly that the people of Kazakhstan had made the right choice - President N. Nazarbayev completely executed the oath, having given all efforts to construction of the new, strong and independent Kazakhstan.

Solving economic problems of the country, the First President – the Leader of the nation Nursultan Nazarbayev has paid not less attention to the maintenance of peace and harmony in Kazakhstan society. In this sense, the Day of the First President may be also called the Day of unity and tolerance of all the Kazakhstan population.

The weighted domestic and foreign policy pursued by the Head of the state provided creation of a modern, dynamically developing state with socially-oriented economy.

On November 26 at English speaking club session students learnt knew information about N. Nazarbayev`s biography, his contribution to the establishment of Kazakhstani statehood, constitutional status of the President, history of presidency institution development.  

President`s constructive activities on economic establishment of strong, democratically developed, socially responsible state, respected by the world community are his biggest merits.

In conclusion students made special mention of significance and importance of this holiday for our country and fully supported the policy conducted by our President N. Nazarbayev.
