On December 11, the English Club users discussed the topic “Happy Independence Day Kazakhstan!” The Republic of Kazakhstan is a free independent state. This year we celebrate 25 Anniversary of Indepent Kazakhstan. On the 16th of December 1991 Kazakhstan adopted the Law of State Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. As any independent state, our country had adopted its state symbols - Flag, Emblem and Anthem. To respect Flag, Emblem and Anthem of the country means to respect and honor the country. The National Flag of the Republic of Kazakhstan was adopted in June, 1992. The creator of the Flag of Kazakhstan is the artist Shaken Niyazbekov.
On 4 June 1992 is the birthday of the National Emblem of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Its founders are architects Zhandarbek Malibekov and Shota Valikhanov.
In our Republic song “Mенің Қазақстаным” (“My Kazakhstan”) was adopted as the National Anthem.
For the first time, the song “Meнің Қазақстаным” was heard on January 11, 2006 as the Anthem of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It happened at the inauguration of the President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
Monument “Astana-Baiteirek” also represents a young, strong state, which has maintained its historical roots. This state has a strong support and commitment to future prosperity.
According to the old Kazakh legend, “Бәйтерек” (Baiterek) - is a tree of life. It keeps the ground by its roots, supporting the sky by head. In the head of the tree bird Samruk lays a golden egg - the sun -a symbol of life and hope. Hungry dragon Aydakhar swallows it out of earth kingdom of darkness. But the bird Samruk again and again flies to the tree and lays an egg. It symbolically means the replacement of winter and summer, night and day. So it is the eternal struggle between good and evil.
Our guest Elizabeth Blackburn, Fulbright English Teaching Assistant, was very intersted in the topic and took an active part in the discussion.
