Karaganda RURL

On February 12, a group of students from Nazarbayev intellectual school were the guest of Regional research library named after N.V. Gogol. They were eager to get acquainted with Library services, Electronic catalogue, Gogol library book collection and visited Information-bibliographic department. A great number of reference books were at their disposal. Also they visited American corner, a successful partnership between the U.S. Embassy and N.V. Gogol Regional Research library.

The AC in Karaganda promotes a wide variety of programs and books. AC staff meet its goal through daily English clubs with topics that reflect U.S. and Kazakhstani holidays, Cultural tolerance and others. With the aim of celebrating 80-th anniversary of the city of miners Department of Local lore literature made a nice book exhibition named “My Favorite City Karaganda” The staff made an informative book review. Special attention was given to the books dealing with history of the city. A very interesting description were on

• ”Қарағанды жұмысшыларының әңгіме - жырлары” (Stories and songs of Karaganda miners),
• “Менің құрдастарым”(My Coevals by S. Yerubayev),
• “Қарағанды тәуелсіз Казақстанның 20 жылында”(20 Years of Independence of Kazakhstan)

about the achievements of the citizens of our region, and many others.  At the end the students choired a song about Karaganda. It was  really great! Especially they were interested in thematical quiz ”What do you know about your native city?”   The students were very successful while answering questions and got many prizes. The event was helpful and interesting for our new users!
