On April 30 English Speaking Club users had a great event dealing with Day of Unity. «Халықтар достығы - бірлік пен береке көзі». "Friendship of people–is a source of unity and prosperity”.
Our guests were Elizabeth Blackburn,(Fulbright English teaching Assistant), and Galiya Timisheva from Karaganda oblast Tatar centre named “Ikhlas”.
Kazakhstan is a multinational country, home for 150 nations and nationalities. On May 1st, all Kazakhstanis celebrate the bright and important state holiday that encourages the diverse people of Kazakhstan to live in peace and harmony. This bright spring holiday is held in every city of Kazakhstan with parades and processions along the central streets of the cities and also with entertaining events. In Kazakhstan each nation gives a piece of their soul to a common culture. There are many ethnic and cultural associations and centers, including an UkrainianCultural centre, Chinese Cultural Centre, German Society "Wiedergeburt". Participation of different cultural centers which familiarize the people of Kazakhstan with the traditions of other nationalities is of great importance. Merry dances, sports competitions - all these make the event one of the brightest and most favorable holidays for the people of Kazakhstan.
President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said the holiday became "a real national holiday. It comes to us with summer warmth and bright sun". "This holiday brings us new hopes, bright emotions, strength and confidence in the future. On this day we feel friendship and unity of all Kazakhstanis. Peace and harmony in our common house - these are our main values", N. Nazarbayev emphasized.
The Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan has become one of the most important institutes of the Kazakhstan society over the years of sovereignty. It plays a key role in strengthening inter-ethnic accord and stability in the state. National unity is a basis of a society's conflict-free development. Making a speech at the 20 th session of the People's Assembly President Nursultan Nazarbayev announced that the 1st of May would be one of our main holidays. " Mass marches and patriotic actions will take place all over Kazakhstan. The spring festival of May Day should further bring together all the ethnic groups of our country," Nazarbayev noted. "Doors of our home-country are wide open for all our friends all over the world. We have established our unique and friendly Kazakhstani family.
