On November 28 AC users discussed a topic on the Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Elizabeth Blackburn,English Language Assistant, was the moderator:

The word "president" is translated from Latin as "a person sitting in front". A President is the head of a state. He watches the laws of Constitution not to be violated, public officers to perform their duties properly. President protects the sovereignty of the state and presents it in front of other countries. The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Abishuly Nazarbayev.

Nursultan Nazarbayev was born on July 6, 1940 in the Shamalgan village near Almaty. In childhood Nursultan began working to help his large family. In 1960 he graduated from Dneprodzerzhinsk technical school in the Ukraine, and in 1967 he finished the higher technical education institution at the Karagandy Metallurgical Plant.

Due to his organizational skills and tenacity, Nursultan Nazarbayev was successfully engaged in the komsomol and party work. In April 1990 he became the President of the Kazakh SSR.

On December 1, 1991 Nursultan Nazarbayev became the first President of independent Kazakhstan. He introduced the world our young independent state. In subsequent years, as a result of national elections, Nursultan Nazarbayev was re-elected as a Head of State.

In 1997 the President proposed a strategic development program "Kazakhstan-2030. Prosperity, security and the welfare of all Kazakhs". The program reflected the situation in the country to date and proposed a number of activities to transform Kazakhstan into a prosperous country by 2030.

On April 3, 2011 on the off year presidential elections the people again placed confidence in Nursultan Nazarbayev, and he was re-elected as the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
